 | Impressive changes for the city's Classical fans | | Following the Government's budget, Sheffield City Hall announced its own this week and it's certainly one that will open a few eyes - but for the right reasons. Following a long period of research and analysis of the current International Concert Season, the venue has announced a radical new subscription package for the 08/09 Season.
Gone are the complicated pricing structures and in comes a single price for single tickets together with a three price subscription package. The Season will consist of 15 concerts including the ever popular Christmas Carol Concert together with a further 12 five40five concerts in the Ballroom and the quality of visiting orchestras, soloists and musicians remains of an exceptional standard.
Dominic Stokes, general manager says "Having had a challenging season in 07/08 we have looked at all aspects of the Season in an attempt to be as accessible to as wide-ranging audience as possible, whilst ensuring we retain a quality product. After a successful season in 2007 and a more difficult season this year, we want to focus on driving considerable audiences through our doors."
"Now nobody can ever claim that coming to classical music is too expensive or too elitist as our prices are not much more than a cinema ticket and cheaper than a DVD. We have to ensure that as many people can experience quality live performances and we believe that we have removed one of the most significant barriers. This year, our top subscription package will cost only £150 to access the entire season."
Standby tickets at £5 and kids for a quid (15 and under) will once again be available on the day of the concert and subject to availability, any seat in the house. If a Children's subscription is more suitable, they can pick 5 concerts from the whole season for just £50 AND bring a parent along for free!
We expect there to be great demand for the new subscription packages so make sure you don't miss out. If you would like a copy of the new Concert Season brochure, please contact 0114 223 3740, email info@sheffieldcityhall.co.uk or write to SICS Brochure, Sheffield City Hall, Barkers Pool, Sheffield S1 2JA and include your name, address and a telephone number.
