Summer of sport for SIV
Sheffield is warming up to welcome top sporting talent from across Britain and Europe for an action-packed summer events programme. 

Leading leisure operator Sheffield International Venues (SIV) is staging seven key National and European events across a number of its facilities in the city during July.
 

Teams from around the country will battle it out at the National Futsal Cup Finals at the English Institute of Sport - Sheffield (EIS Sheffield) in Attercliffe from July 3 - 5.
 

The world class venue will also jointly host the English School Athletics competition from July 10 - 12 July. Youngsters will take part in warm up activities at EIS Sheffield and the main event will be at SIV’s Don Valley and Woodbourne Road stadiums.
 

There will be fierce competition at iceSheffield, one of the countries best skating venues, as national skaters perform in the NISA Solo Dance Competition (July 6 - 9) to win the title of British Champion in various events.
 

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre will play host to European volleyball on July 11 when Great Britain’s men’s team take on Spain.
 

South Yorkshire
swimming fans can look forward to July at Ponds Forge as the venue hosts the British Gas asa National Age Group Championships 2009. Taking place from July 22, the event will see Britain’s best young swimmers compete in a variety of age categories.   

The British Gas asa National Youth Championships,
being held at Ponds Forge from July 28, features boys aged 15-18 and girls aged 14 -17 who will be targeting British titles and setting their sights on gaining places at the 2012 Olympic Games. 

The British Fencing Championships at EIS Sheffield from July 25 – 26 make up the summer sporting programme.
