SIV golf courses back open after snow.
Sheffield’s golfers can get back into the swing at two of the city’s top courses, which have reopened after the snow disruption.
Birley Wood and Tinsley Golf Courses, both managed by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), are back open to members of the public.
Chesterfield’s Tapton Park has also reopened, after the recent rise in temperatures thawed the remainder of the snow, which covered the fairways and greens.
Beauchief Golf Course will remain closed until further notice. However, the clubhouse is open, serving hot and cold food, snacks and drinks.
Andy Carnall, SIV’s golf manager, said: “We are pleased to be getting back to normality after the recent bout of bad weather, which caused major disruptions across all our courses. Three out of the four courses are back open and our function rooms are once again available for meetings, conferences and events. We are also working hard to ensure Beauchief can be reopened as soon as possible.
“The courses are open to anyone and, as well as offering memberships, we operate on a pay and play basis. This means members of the public can play a one off round with no ties, giving them a taste of the course before committing to a membership scheme.”
SIV offers four 18-hole golf courses, a nine-hole course, a pitch and putt course, and have professionals based at each course on hand to provide coaching for all ages and abilities, from adults and juniors players to beginners.
