 | Herol ‘Bomber’ announces World Marathon Skipping Record attempt | |
Sheffield boxing legend Herol ‘Bomber’ Graham has officially announced a challenge which will see him attempt to make it into the world record books.
Herol, a former British, Commonwealth and European boxing champion, will take part in a World Marathon Skipping Record challenge at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in aid of The Children’s Hospital Charity.
The World Marathon Skipping Record currently stands at 27 hours and was set back in 2003 in Australia. Herol, who last year completed a 24 hour skipping marathon, will attempt to smash this record and he’s enlisted a team of experts from Sheffield Hallam University’s Centre for Sports and Exercise Science to help him do it.
Herol said: “I care a lot about the Children’s Hospital and fundraising for the charity. As I always say, children are our future and we should give them all the help we can.
“I am keen to raise as much money as possible for a fantastic cause and want to encourage people to come down to support me and cheer me on during my record attempt. You can even have a go at skipping yourself if you want!”
The challenge itself will take place at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed Ponds Forge, on 8 and 9 May, when Herol will be joined by skipping 'buddies', which will include local children and some local celebrity friends.
The event is supported by P&A Group, which has been based in Sheffield for the past 125 years. The company provides the most comprehensive range of business financial solutions in the UK, including business turnaround, recovery or insolvency.
