On 3rd June, 2,000 dippy ducks raced down the Ponds Forge flumes to raise money for local children.
The first twelve ducks to pass the finish line scooped their owners some fantastic prizes. These included a LCD TV, luxury hampers, an overnight stay and gift vouchers.
The Dippy Duck race, arranged by Bluebell Wood support group The Blu Crew, has been a great success for the past couple of years, and has been a valuable fundraiser for the hospice.
Chief Executive Sarah Champion says, "I am thrilled that this year's Dippy Duck race has been another success. It was a great day and everyone had fun cheering on the ducks to the
finish line. I would like to congratulate the winners, everyone who took part, and Ponds Forge for their support with this event."
Helen Broadbent, general manager at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed Ponds Forge, said: "We have been hosting the duck race for a few years now and it is always a fantastic
event.
"We are always delighted to help raise money for an incredibly worthwhile local cause like Bluebell Wood, which does amazing work to help the local children and their families who benefit
from its facilities."
Bluebell Wood offers a home from home environment for children and young adults with a shortened life expectancy. Here families can have fun, relax and get the support they need. It is a chance
for families to get a break, often the first one they have had in years. It costs £2.5 million every year to offer this support, and with no government funding, the charity relies upon
the generosity of the public.
