Mozart Overture: The Magic Flute
Beethoven Violin Concerto
Dvorák Symphony No.7
Nicola Benedetti’s playing of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto was recently described as being “unbelievably expansive” with “luxuriously unhurried spaciousness”. The Scot’s performance of this monumental work is hugely anticipated. Dvorák’s astonishingly rich Seventh Symphony, overlaid with tragic overtones, is considered by many to be his finest. “My new work must be capable of stirring the world – God grant me that it will!” said Dvorák. To begin the concert, one of Mozart’s most enchanting overtures with its arresting opening chords. Presiding over events is the highly-talented Rory Macdonald, one of a growing number of former Hallé Assistant Conductors now blazing a trail.
